ABOUT
Equipping Life-long Learners
LISA’S STORY
Following a career as a corporate Human Resources executive, Lisa shifted her focus to raising her child. In this new role, she saw the challenges and shortcomings of the educational system as well as the lack of support beyond basic education. Not long after, she looked for the next professional chapter in her life, and chose to help children who needed help filling in their learning gaps. Earning a second master’s degree, she became a fully trained and certified educational therapist. While few achieve this level of education and certification, Lisa has continued to add the tools she needs to give kids every opportunity for success in reaching their full potential.
Learning Foundation
Because a child’s underlying perceptual and cognitive skills (visual/auditory processing, visual/motor coordination, abstract thinking and more) provide a foundation for academic learning, Lisa chose the name Learning Foundation to represent her focus on strengthening these underlying deficits. Once these skills are addressed, a child’s confidence grows and the learning process begins to work in an efficient manner. Children become independent learners as their “learning foundation” is improved.

Certifications & Experience
Lisa holds multiple degrees and certifications that span the fields of education, psychology and reading instruction.
In addition to her formal training which helps her analyze data, create an effective plan and efficiently execute that plan, Lisa is able to make adjustments throughout the therapy process, depending on the child’s needs and progress.
Educational Therapy
Not all educational therapists are the same. In addition to earning a Master’s degree in education, Lisa has also obtained the highest level of certification with the National Institute for Learning Development.
As a Level 3 Certified educational therapist, she is able to assess children and provide a specific plan for therapy that capitalizes on a child’s strengths while addressing their areas of need. She is certified in group education therapy through the National Institute for Learning Development (NILD) and helps with early intervention and executive functioning skills.

Psychology
Lisa holds a master’s degree in psychology which helps her better understand the socio-emotional aspects that are in play when a child has learning difficulties. She can counsel children and their parents as they work together to build confident, competent life-long learners. Lisa also uses her psychology training to aid in the emotional components of therapy, recognizing that emotional, behavior and learning problems are intertwined. Lisa is also an adjunct professor in psychology through a dual enrollment program for local high school students.
