When it comes to your child’s learning challenges, you don’t have to walk this road alone. Lisa is eager to meet you and learn more about your child’s needs! Parents often remark that she is a compassionate partner in the process, and children love to learn from her. She offers a variety of services for both children and their parents.
Educational Therapy
Lisa provides one-on-one individualized educational therapy sessions involving an intensive, research-based learning approach. In her downtown Matthews office location, she works with children who are in Pre-K through 10th grade.
In addition, Lisa is an NILD certified provider of Group Educational Therapy (GET) for children with similar needs. With GET, the power of educational therapy is multiplied. Developing peer mediation enhances students’ self-regulation skills, facilitates social learning and cooperation abilities, and promotes interactive language among peers.
For young students (K-2nd grade), Lisa offers Search and Teach, an early identification and intervention program developed to meet the foundational educational needs of young learners necessary for reading success.
Reading Intervention
Lisa offers the Orton-Gillingham Approach when reading, writing, and spelling do not come easily to children, such as those with dyslexia. This approach is available one-on-one or in small group instruction, engaging in multi-sensory pathways to teach literacy.
Individualized Classroom Services
In addition to educational therapy, individualized classroom instruction is offered through Learning Foundation Acadamy, a small group school setting, for children who have struggled within the traditional scope of learning or fallen below grade level. Curriculum is tailored to the needs of each student, incorporating educational therapy techniques, the Orton-Gillingham Approach, and psychological-educational theories with an underlying Charlotte Mason philosophy.
Testing Services
Whether you are seeking testing for state homeschooling requirements or for determining if your child has met certain grade level expectations, Lisa can administer a variety of standardized and informal assessments.
