When it comes to your child’s learning challenges, you don’t have to walk this difficult road alone.
Lisa is eager to meet you and learn more about your child’s needs so that she can help! Parents often remark that she is a compassionate partner in the process, and children love to come and learn from her. She offers a variety of services for both children and their parents.
Educational Therapy
Lisa provides 1:1 educational therapy sessions in her downtown Matthews office location. She works with children who are in grades xx-xx. Her services include: Orton-Gillingham Approach reading intervention, research-based educational therapy sessions. In this distraction-free environment, Lisa is able to meet children at their level and retrain their brain to be more successful in the classroom and in life.
She will target specific cognitive skills, auditory discrimination skills, working memory, and visual/spatial deficits. She gives strategies to deal with weaknesses as well as teaching children note-taking skills and other abilities they can transfer to the classroom. She addresses underlying, discrete learning skills.
Homeschool Services
Lisa offers bi-weekly, multi-hour academic instruction in a group classroom setting. This incorporates educational therapy and Orton-Gillingham strategies. Children benefit from educational therapy strategies being integrated with their academic tasks. Lisa is able to directly apply evidence-based strategies to her students’ learning experience in a motivational, classroom setting, providing specialized learning in a classroom instruction. Parents enjoy sharing the load of homeschooling with someone who has specialized training and experience in helping kids with learning difficulties.
Testing Services
Whether you are seeking testing to identify a need for educational therapy or to meet requirements for school entrance or state homeschooling requirements, Lisa is able to administer a variety of assessments. Following the testing session, you will be given a written report as well as the opportunity to meet with Lisa in person to discuss testing results and recommendations.
